Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Injections
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections involve using a patient's own blood to promote healing and tissue regeneration. PRP is derived from a small sample of the patient's blood, which is then processed to concentrate the platelets.
Platelets contain growth factors that play a crucial role in the body's natural healing process. Your body responds to injuries by delivering platelet cells containing growth and healing factors to an injured area. These platelets initiate the repair process and attract the critical assistance of stem cells. By injecting the concentrated PRP into the injured area, it is believed to stimulate tissue repair, reduce inflammation, and accelerate healing.
PRP therapy is a fairly simple procedure requiring less than an hour in our clinic with most conditions requiring only one PRP injection. PRP injections have been used to treat a variety of conditions, including tendon injuries, ligament tears, osteoarthritis, and muscle strains.
This form of treatment is commonly referred to as “Regenerative Medicine” since the goal of the treatment is to regenerate tissue.
