Hyaluronic Acid Injections

Commonly treated conditions: OSTEOARTHRITIS

Hyaluronic Acid Injections

Hyaluronic Acid injections, also known as viscosupplementation, are a treatment option for individuals with osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease characterized by the breakdown of cartilage, leading to pain, stiffness, and decreased mobility.

The aging process can cause the naturally occurring synovial fluid in our joints to thin, reducing its effectiveness in providing protection and cushioning. Hyaluronic Acid injections can help revitalize this fluid, making it thicker and more viscous, which may shield the underlying cartilage and alleviate osteoarthritis pain.

This straightforward procedure involves a hyaluronic acid injection under ultrasound guidance, typically administered once a week for three weeks, or as a larger one-time dose. The treatment is usually repeated semi-annually for pain management linked to knee, hip, shoulder, or other joint osteoarthritis.
